Kennady's Baptism Sept. 20, 2009

The last of our four children to be baptized. Kennady was so excited to be baptized. She had been preparing for awhile to do so, learning about baptism and what Jesus would want her to do. Melissa and I took her up to LA to look for her dress. We were having such a hard time finding one with sleeves. Kennady found one without sleeves and we decided to get it and just add the sleeves. We went to one last store and found this one, Kennady fell in love with it so we got it. She looked so adorable. The day of her baptism was also the Primary Program. She looked so cute up on the stand in her dress. When it came time for her to be baptized she went into the water and her dress would not go down, it kept floating up. John kept trying to wet it down, but no luck. He finally started tucking it between her legs and his and then grabbed parts of it in his hands. I don't think I have ever seen anyone be baptized by going all the way down to the bottom of the font. He said that it was going to be a one shot deal and it was. I was impressed that he was able to get all of her and the dress under the water. When Kennady came out, each layer of her dress was full of water, she had a hard time walking up the steps to get out. I had to wring out each layer before I could even take it off her. Well she will always have a story to tell about her baptism. It was so wonderful to have all of our family and friends there to share in her happy day. Here is a run down of the program: Prayers by Ian and Zac, Talks by her two Grandmas, Baptism and Confirmation by her daddy, Witnesses of baptism Grandpa Howard and Uncle Billy. Mommy made her a soft, cuddly blanket to help remind her how the Holy Ghost make her feel warm and safe. I just can't believe our baby is already eight and is now a baptized member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints! Where has the time gone????? We love you Kennady and are so proud of you and your good decisions!!!!!

I can't believe my baby is now 8 years old! The time has gone by so fast. She is such a cutie and has brought so much to our family. We love her dearly. She definitely has completed our family. She just loves Hannah Montana so that was the theme of her birthday!

San Diego/Oceanside vacation July 2009

Here are more pics from our trip to San Diego and Oceanside. This is the first time we have stayed at this resort and it was wonderful. It was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath Condo. We had a full kitchen and living room and it even had a laundry closet. There was an activity center for the younger kids along with a pool. We were right on the beach, which was heaven. Ian and John surfed and the rest of us hung out on the beach. We also spent time at Sea World where we had a lot of fun. We even got to witness the baby walrus escape from the water during the Sea otter and Sea lion show. They made us all leave the stadium because she decided she wanted to see what the rest of Sea World was like. She went all the way out of the stadium by the stroller parking. It was hilarious! Of all the years we have gone to Sea World we have never experienced something like that. It just goes to show you they truly are wild animals and you never know what could happen. Something we will never forget! Of course like all vacations it went by way too fast. We could have stayed much longer.

San Diego/Oceanside vacation July 2009

For our family vacation this year we went down to San Diego and Oceanside and stayed in our timeshare. We started off by going to a San Diego Padres game. Zac is missing from the pic he was up in his seat not feeling well. We went to the Midway(Navy Aircraft carrier) in San Diego harbor. We had dinner at Ruby's on Oceanside pier. Since I am still not a pro at all this I don't know had to add more pics to this post so look above for more pics of our vacation.

We went to dinner with Rob and Joyce Barber on Friday, April 3, 2009 for Joyce's Birthday. They were here in Cali for Rob to attend an Orthodontic Convention. We ate at Fisherman's in San Clemente. Fabulous food and atmosphere. We had a great time!

Zac, John and Grampa Howard all went to the World Baseball Classic Semi-finals at Dodger Stadium on March 21st: Korea vs Venezuela. They said it had an Olympic feeling and the fans were crazy!!!

Sat, Feb. 21st we attended our good friend, Dewey's, surprise 40th bday party. He was completely surprised! It was great. His wife, Michelle and him mom worked real hard for 3 months on this and it is amazing that he knew nothing about it. Several friends from High School came and we all had a good time catching up. Dewey's wife, kids and sister and her kids all performed Hula dances and Hawaiian music for him, they all did a great job. I just can't believe we are turning 40 this year :o

2009 Lakewood High School Baseball Alumni game. John and some buddies went and played Lakewood's Varsity in an Alumni game Saturday, Feb. 21. They had a blast. John actually caught for 4 innings and is now paying for it. Needless to say he is very sore. Although the alumni lost (7-6), they gave the young ones a run for their money.

Here are the kids ready to see what Santa brought for Christmas 2008. Don't they look thrilled? It's not as fun to wake up early when you are a teenager I guess!!!:) As you can see they brightened up when they started opening gifts :) We had a great Christmas. Later that morning we went to Grandma and Grandpa Howard's to get together with Billy and his family and Melissa and her family to have brunch and exchange gifts. The kids had fun playing together.

Christmas Eve 2008 at Carrie's and Shannon's. Here is a rare shot, we actually had almost all of the kids there. Carrie's: Katie, Pat and Annie--Donnie's: Taylor, Lexi, Drew and Yves--Kim's: Austin,(Adam, Joseph, Cody weren't able to make it) --John's: Zac, Addy, Ian and Kennady--Kristie's: Emily, Katie, and Matthew. The kids put on a "Nativity" play (the older girls organized it all). Ian was Joseph, Yves was Mary,Matthew was baby Jesus, Austin a shepherd, Kennady and Katie were wisemen, and Emily was an Angel. Drew was the narrator. We all had dinner, the kids had a gift exchange and again it was another great Christmas Eve.

Belmont Shore Christmas Parade 2008

We went to John's Auntie Kathy and Uncle Paul's for dinner the first weekend in December. This is their labradoodle (half lab/half poodle). Kennady thought it was great that she dressed up for Christmas! We then all went down to the Belmont Shore Christmas Parade. John's cousin Jamie and his wife Sandra and their daughter Ellen also joined us. We had a great time. Kennady got to see Santa up close in his sleigh. She was very excited!

John really wanted to make the blog this month! He was a little late for Halloween though! HA!HA! In actuality, he sustained a head and eye injury while playing in our Co-Ed softball game. He had a little collision in the outfield while trying to make a play and was knocked unconcious. Our daughter, Addy, was the first to get to him and she tried to wake him up. After gaining consciousness, he rolled around and was mumbling and groaning. He tried to get up and say that he was okay to continue playing, but in reality he couldn't even walk straight back to the dugout. When I looked at his eyes, they were completely dialated so I decided that he should definitley go to the hospital and be checked out for a concussion. At first we thought he split open his eye, but after cleaning it up, it was just a minor wound and would not need stitches. He was quite groggy, and still does not remember a whole lot about what happened. At the hospital they took a CT scan and dosed him up with vicadin. The CT scan came back normal but he did have a concussion. He is fine now, but suffered many days with a severe headache. His eye, although, is still black and blue and bloodshot after one week. Anyway, we are definitely thankful that he is okay.

Okay, I just thought I would shock you all some more and update again. I know it all is very sparatic, but it is what it is. Hopefully now that I have posted a few times I will keep it up and maybe even keep our events in order.

In July we went with Melissa,Kevin & Reese, Shannon & Drake (Kevin's sister and son), Michelle, Parker & Hailey and Grandma Howard to the Long Beach Aquarium. We had a great day discovering new types of fish and the kids even touched sting rays and sharks.

In March, during Spring break, we met our good friends, the Filleys from Az, in Brianhead for our annual ski trip. We had an awesome time. The older kids had a great time snowboarding (they have improved tremendously)and Kennady was a little dare devil at skiing. She hit quite a few jumps and even impressed some teenagers. Her comment after each jump was "did you see that air"! She whizzes by everyone, and even leaves mom and dad in the dust. John had a tough time taking pictures of her, she thinks that the faster you go, the better. She is quite funny. It has been fun to be able to do something with our family that everyone can participate in. Our family is getting older!

Ian is in 6th grade this year and just started middle school. Kennady is our big Kindergartner and just loves being at the big school. She just received her first homework packet and is very excited. It is such a novelty at this age.

We are so excited to be back close to the beach again. For family night this past week we took the kids down to the Huntington Beach Pier and had dinner at Ruby's. We sure have missed the beach.

Kennady's 6th Birthday

Kennady was so excited to have her 6th birthday!! She wanted a Tinkerbell cake and decorations this year. She invited her grandparents, Billy and Shelly and their kids, and of course her "fake"(as she calls her) grandma Paulette. She was so surprised when she opened her High School musical dolls (Gabriella and Troy). Of course they sing together and she drives them around in her Barbie Car when they are going out on a date. She is looking forward to extending her birthday by having another party at her Grandma Baldwin's with all of her cousins and aunts and uncle and of course she will have her Tinkerbell decor again. It's strange that our baby is 6 already. Where does the time go.
